Mark 8:27‭-‬30

Mark 8:27‭-‬30

And Jesus went on with his disciples to the villages of Caesarea Philippi. And on the way he asked his disciples, “Who do people say that I am?” And they told him, “John the Baptist; and others say, Elijah; and others, one of the prophets.” And he asked them, “But who do you say that I am?” Peter answered him, “You are the Christ.” And he strictly charged them to tell no one about him.
Mark 8:27‭-‬30 ESV

Jesus wants to know who you think he is. He asks the disciples who everyone says he is and then proceeds to inquire if that public perception changes what they personally believe. In this starkly divided world, we’re constantly pressed as born again believers to question who God is in our hearts. The disciples were challenged by Jesus himself to make a decision about his identity. Without a personal relationship with our savior, we can’t fully answer this question. But the beauty in this question is that Jesus is always asking you directly. He desires not only to hear your heart but for you to as well. Who do you say Jesus is?
